Hey there, I’m Waseem and my pronouns are he/him. I recently obtained my Master of Science in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University, and I received my Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology at George Mason University.
I am well-versed in Motivational Interviewing, and I am trauma-informed and person-centered in my approach. My therapeutic stance is founded on existential-humanism in which I guide the client towards a deeper understanding of self in order to make meaning of past experiences and move forward with a clearer sense of self and life values. I also enjoy providing couples counseling and have completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method. Most of my clinical experience has been with folx of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as trans* and gender non-conforming folx, wherein I focused on both self-love and acceptance as well as co-occurring mental health challenges and traumas. I also speak Arabic as a first language and look forward to working with Arabic-speaking individuals and folx from the MENA region.
